Where high class gastronomy meets great environment and stunning views. It’s a matter of good taste!
Bearing a strong Mediterranean identity, Greece’s culinary culture scores high among the world’s best cuisines lists. But it doesn’t end there. During the last few years, the country’s gastronomic scene has been constantly growing, mixing tradition with the latest international trends, forming somewhat of a foodie’s paradise. Apart from the ever-cool tavernas, the street food and the fusion spots, it’s the hotel restaurants that are going strong on the fine dining game, paired with great interior design, service and views. From cool collaborations, awarded chefs and fancy pop-ups, here are some of the choices that are going to wow the food connoisseurs.
Below, discover the best hotel restaurants in Greece for summer 2019
The Funky Gourmet at Costa Navarino
The first Michelin-starred restaurant outside of Athens is the brand new, earth-sheltered clubhouse at the Navarino Bay resort area, in Costa Navarino. The Funky Gourmet Chefs, Georgianna and Nikos are mixing high-quality raw materials of the Messinian region with avant-garde cooking techniques in a unique location that overlooks the Ionian Sea and is surrounded by olive groves.
The Grand by Interni
Becoming the talk of the town just days after its opening, credited with having one of the best rooftop views of Athens, The Grand by Interni is by all means sophisticated. Crowning the Grand Hyatt Hotel, The Grand offers an exciting fusion of Mediterranean and Asian flavors, which is perfectly highlighted by the place’s interiors- think about enjoying a lobster risotto with truffle while sitting on an authentic bright orange Bonaccina chair from the 70s. Bonus: the side-glass pool!
Galazia Hytra in Summer Senses Paros
The child of the award-winning Michelin star restaurant Hytra in Athens, Galazia Hytra marks the brand’s first foray outside of the Attica region, revitalising the culinary map of the Cycladic Islands. Located in the brand new 5* hotel Summer Senses which has just opened in Paros, Galazia Hytra is highlighting classic dishes through modern techniques and exceptional raw ingredients, representing the best of creative Greek cuisine and offering a totally holistic dining experience. It’s a must!
Kool Life ft. Yiannis Baxevanis
With a sleek design, aristocratic air and urban heartbeat, Life Gallery is a 5 star modern retreat located in one of the most stylish and posh suburbs of Athens, Ekali. During my staycation there, I enjoyed unforgettable meals at the hotel’s award-winning restaurant, Kool Life. This summer, Kool Life is partnering up with top Greek ched Yiannis Baxevanis, sharing his love of Cretan gastronomy through a series of new dishes dedicated to the art of Greek island cuisine. Known throughout Greece as the ‘aroma magician’, Baxevanis is famous for his talented use of aromatic herbs, adding a special element to his creations. Together with Dionysis Zacharopoulos (new head chef of Life Gallery), they are introducing a new gastronomic era for the hotel.
Elements at Canaves Oia
The brand new, impressive Canaves Oia Epitome opened its doors last year and wowed the visitors of Santorini. Located in the north part of Oia (the world (and insta) famous iconic sunset spot), Epitome offers a different, sophisticated angle of the island partly thanks to the gastronomic identity of its Elements restaurant, built by executive chef Tasos Stefatos. Traditional “mom”dishes go under the fine dining aesthetics makeover and result to a unique culinary experience which stands out of the rest. To top it off, there is a dessert named “Caldera View”!
