As the masters of lush hospitality bring on the ultimate festive fantasy, we take a glimpse at this year’s most over the top decorations!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Time flies as we are getting ready for another glamorous “season finale“ and catching up with the festive mood is just inevitable. Christmas decorations is the case where going extra is slightly mandatory and the luxurious hotels of the world, with their impressive lobbies and trees are the ultimate eye candy!
Here are the Best Christmas decorations for 2019
The Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh
Three beautifully designed wishing trees take centre stage in the Balmoral Hotel’s Afternoon Tea lounge, Palm Court. The wishing trees will offer the ‘Gift of a Wish’, inviting guests and visitors to submit their wish for the year ahead, allowing the trees to blossom as the ‘leaves’, featuring beautiful messages, are added each day. Guests can choose to make a donation and write their wishes on a special gold wishing tag!
Hotel Metropole – Monaco
An immaculate, polar Christmas is taking its place in the Hotel Metropole Monte-Carlo! The white forest continues in the lobby, where huge white bears hold court in this setting with fairytale design, surrounded by magnificent fir trees and fabulous gifts. Everywhere, plays of light warm everyone’s hearts, creating a magically soft atmosphere. The majestic journey to Nordic countries is totally dazzling, the moment to make your wildest dreams come true and enjoy the best Christmas ever!
Hotel de Russie, Rome
A wonderful, snowball-inspired installation housing a majestic Acqua di Parma Christmas tree decorated with white and yellow details and legendary hatboxes, takes centre stage in Piazzetta Valadier, the courtyard of Rome’s historic hotel Hotel de Russie. The concoction of flowers, snowflakes, lights and colours throughout the hotel’s entrance, hall, and common areas ensures that the Christmas magic is spread all over the property.
Hotel de la Ville and Missoni, the Italian high-end fashion house, known for its colorful knitwear design, have joined forces to offer guests a very merry vibe to celebrate this year’s festive season.
The prize for the most artistic Christmas Tree goes to the London Edition’s A Christmas Dream tree. Inspired by classic stories about mythical lands, such as Peter Pan, British artist Luke Edward Hall gathered bits of scrappy German tinsel, baubles from the 1980s and giant cut-out illustrations, and topped them off with a gold-painted old wooden galleon, placed on top of the almost twenty-feet tree.
The Mark Hotel – New York
A private skating rink atop The Mark Penthouse’s Terrace overlooking Central Park and The Manhattan Skyline. Skate with family and friends while sipping hot chocolate under the stars and the moon.
Four Seasons Los Angeles
While artistic director Jeff Leatham installed huge glistening reindeer in the Four Seasons Paris’ lobby, his inspiration for the Four Seasons Los Angeles was a little different -extravagant huge piles of chic golden baubles that mirror the Christmas lights, as well as smaller Christmas trees make for an equally impressive festive decoration.
The Mandarin Oriental Paris
Hot pink, gold and purple make for the perfect festive colour palette in this year’s Mandarin Oriental Paris festive decorations. The hotel’s famous bar 8’s terrace is transformed into an enchanted forest by famous whiskey brand Glenfiddich while festive activities like Christmas Shopping, special pampering and a 7-course festive menu make for the perfect Christmas destination.
The Peninsula Paris
The majestic, fairytale-like Christmas tree at the hotel’s lobby is not merely a spot of glorious festive decoration, but rather the centre of all the related activities taking place in the hotel. For instance, children can enjoy a fairy-tale reading of the hotel’s custom Gingerbread Man story, under the lobby’s Christmas tree along with the page boys.
Hotel Amigo, Brussels
A Christmas decoration inspired by “Breakfast at Tiffany’s“, what an outstanding festive concept this is! Upon entering Hotel Amigo, guests are greeted with a majestic Christmas tree decked in Tiffany’s decorations, under which they can find Tiffany’s iconic blue boxes with white bows. Tiffany snowflakes are also hanging from the beautiful 4 story spiral staircase, creating a winter wonderland feel, while guests can also enjoy a Tiffany afternoon tea with special blue macaroons, surrounded by Tiffany boxes.
The Savoy Hotel’s 2019 iconic Christmas tree is made entirely of Lego and there is a good cause behind that! Celebrating Lego’s biggest-ever campaign, Rebuild the World, which nurtures the belief that every child is born with innate creativity, areas of the hotel are reimagined and rebuilt through a child’s eyes, resulting in a dragon Christmas tree, an alternative mode of transport for Santa Claus – and a choir singing the rewritten carol!
This is definitely a favourite idea among Best Christmas decorations 2019! Not only there is the 5-meter glamorous Christmas Tree, that iconic shoemaker Christian Louboutin designer for the hotel’s tree 10th anniversary, but also there is Loubi Express, an intimate 4 table dining carriage serving champagne cocktails in the signature Louboutin red colour!
The Ritz London
The Ritz London opts for classic old festive glamour in red velvet and gold decoration that exude a glorious yet cozy and familiar festive mood. Meanwhile, a stunning floral arrangement with a base of fern and English garden hydrangea, dressed with cosmos, masses of roses and softer shades of hydrangea curated by Paul Thomas Flowers steals the show and gives off fresh vibes in the grand staircase of the William Kent House.

The Connaught Hotel, London
There are the jolly, traditional Christmas tree and then there’s that. Standing beside the world-famous Tadao Ando fountain, the Connaught Hotel’s nine-metre tree transforms Carlos Place into a mesmerising gallery. A towering, conical palette of four block colours, it blends influences from Suprematism and abstract art in a fitting reflection of Sean Scully’s characteristic style. To complete the dramatic vision, 25,000 light bulbs illuminate the artwork against the night sky.

The theme of this year’s Ritz Paris Christmas tree seems to be “Rhapsody in blue”. It’s majestic Christmas tree is elegant and sophisticated and it stands out of the tree-crowd. Instead of opting for the classic red and gold combo, the decorating team preferred refined blue ribbons and silver baubles for a change, while the tree is placed in it’s signature location, at the foot of the palace staircase.

Special treats for a special time of year! I had a lovely afternoon tea with @wanderforawhile at the Waldorf Hilton. They have a magical themed tea all based on the sugarplum fairy from the Nutcracker. I’ll admit some afternoon themed teas are overpriced and under deliver but this one is so worth it and it’s only £39. I suggest you book it before they fill up. . Wish you were here, xoxo [invited guest]
