When cosy meets lush, deco miracles do happen!
Chalets -the definition of cosy luxury, right? They are probably the best winter cliché to ever been made, always in the destination wishlist of eclectic travellers. Slopes covered in snow as a morning view, the audiovisual effect of the fireplace, the wooden corners and the fluffy textures of pillows and rugs, the stone walls and the heartwarming atmosphere -the perfect winter getaway in all its glory. But here is the thing: as much as I love chalets for their rustic, traditional vibe, I am always looking for decoration details that stand out and give an edgy twist to space. And before we can visit our most loved chalets around the world, bring some of the cosiness and the friendly luxury into your own house this winter.
To nail that, here is a list of the best chalet decoration ideas from the most luxurious winter hotels!
Boho vibes and colourful touches (Inspired by Les chalets du Mont Arbois)
An ethnic, summerish vibe is the perfect contrasting decoration for a winter nest in the snow. Think more like, paisley rugs, printed cushions, light blankets and a colour palette of green, turmeric yellow and warm orange tones.
Fur armchairs (As seen at Le Refuge de la Traye)
The wooden furniture and the fur texture are winter decorations’ best matching. Invest in a fur armchair like these beauties in Chalet Le Refuge and bring warmth to your living room. Bonus: they are super comfy and warm and they make for the perfect reading spot!
Winter fabrics in the living room (Inspired by Le Refuge de la Traye)

The lounge
Tartan, fleece, wool -here are some of the most luxurious and warm fabrics you can choose to dress up your living room, as seen here in chalet Le Refuge. Cushions, rags, and sofa blankets can help you achieve the cosiest look (and the warmest atmosphere).
Alpine meets contemporary design (As seen at Le Coucou)

The cosiest bookcase (like the one at Cour des Vosges)

The cosiest reading nook is the one made of wood -everybody knows that! Yet this impressive wood panelled ceiling used as a surprise bookcase is made of a bookworm dreams. Use light furnishing or rugs to master the perfect contrasting look.
Greek tradition with a lux twist (Inspired by Aristi Mountain Resort)
Set within a wild and rugged landscape, Aristi Mountain Resort blends with its surroundings by maintaining a rustic overall look but keeping it luxurious and elegant. Brass elements as well as statement lamps make for the perfect combination for a modern-day winter retreat.
A slice of tartan in the bedroom (As seen at HUUS Hotel Gstaad)
The easiest deco idea of all is also the most sophisticated. A tartan blanket is the best way to bring this cosy alpine vibe into your bedroom. Plus it’s super warm!
Bring on the fairytale (like Les chalets de Philip)
Α wooden rustic dollhouse -that’s what this vibe is all about. Invest in some statement wooden decorations and complete with touches taken from an alpine fairy-tale! See more photos of the dreamy chalet in Chamonix here
The rustic dining room (Like the one in Le Refuge de la Traye)
If tartan is so good for the bedroom, why shouldn’ t it be in a houses’ other room? Mix cushions with wooden furniture and you have the perfect alpine living room! Or you can create the perfect cosy corner in the kitchen of your house!
The winter-chic art de la table (As seen at Mandarin Oriental Geneva)
Mandarin Oriental knows how to set a table and this is no less than perfect. The velvet pistachio chairs, the lamp with the gingham cover and the wooden pieces on the table make everything make sense together!
