A fairy-tale-like stay ticking all the boxes of high-end hospitality!
The Reschio Estate extends over 1,500 hectares in the Umbrian hills on the border with Tuscany. Its heart, the “Castello”, is an Italian castle from the 10th century. Since Count Antonio Bolza bought the property over 25 years ago, his son Benedikt and his wife Donna Nencia have restored over half of the medieval farmhouses scattered around the property and turned them into unique villas.
With the luxurious modern-day hotel “Castello di Reschio“, which opened in April 2021, the count family created a hotel sensation out of old ruins which became an instant bucket list destination.
The 36 rooms and suites, which are located behind the majestic castle walls, are steeped in personality and style in the fusion of rustic as well as modern-elegant design, always paying tribute to the fascinating characters who once called the castle their home.
Every room is an interior design masterpiece – like the palm courtyard, which with its wrought-iron columns and glass ceiling creates an exotic fin-de-siècle room with a hint of an Agatha Christie crime novel or the former kitchen of the castle, which is located in the Summer heat offers refreshing cooling off behind the cool castle walls with a Negroni.
Custom-made marble washstands, finest linens, bespoke furniture, intricate stucco work – all are laid, built, hand-stitched and formed by a remarkable team of local artisans, some of the finest workings in Italy today.
The old wine cellars of the Italian castle have been transformed into a unique spa area. Old stone stairs lead to the unique refuge, which is inspired by ancient Roman baths and offers space for holistic, nurturing treatments to calm body and soul. Under the old stone vault, the large, ethereal saltwater pool invites you to float in the water and immerse yourself in the atmospheric sunlight through the high windows. A generous hammam and a traditional sauna complement the uniquely light spa experience behind the old castle walls.
