Cape 9 offers a new, extraordinary way to experience Santorini
For many people in the world, Santorini is a dream destination which occasionally ends up crammed with tourists. This is why connoisseurs of travel lately head to Akrotiri in order to enjoy the famous volcanic views but also spacious accommodation, precious privacy and easy access to the beaches, all not available in common choices such as Fira and Oia. Known for the famous ruins from the Minoan period, Akrotiri peninsula is located at the south-western tip of the island, built on the slopes of a hill offering staggering views of the Caldera cliffs.

It is at Akrotiri that I recently discovered this hospitality gem called Cape 9. A brand new group of luxurious suites and villas that opened in May 2018 and promises the easiest island life with modern interiors and stunning views of Oia and Imerovigli.
The concept of Cape 9 was driven by a sense of timeless design and easy living as well as a vision of providing tailor-made facilities and services. One of the few resorts to combine top-end features, Cape 9 offers majestic views of Oia and the volcano, ample spaces, serenity and relaxation away from the crowds.
Staying at Cape 9

In my opinion. the 3 suites of Cape 9, all with private pools and unobstructed view to emblematic Caldera and Oia should be in the bucket list of every good life devotee. Imagine gazing at the islands of Thirasia, Folegandros and Sikinos and experiencing a serene seclusion in the coziest, most romantic and comfortable suites. In Cape 9 resort there are also bigger villas that can house families or groups of friends, all with plunge pools, ample patios and amazing views.
Interiors at Cape 9

Something that made me fall in love instantly with the place is its super stylish interior design. A calm palette of white, almond beiges and chalky greys is combined with traditional Santorini architectural details in order to create an effortless and laid-back mood. Organic shapes along with bohemian touches contribute to the hotel’s overall authentic modernity. The pools have the most adorable turquoise hue and are surrounded by big grey sun loungers decorated with bright red pillows. There are many more details to get you inspired! The smooth walls at the ochre bathrooms with the vintage sinks, the macramé wall hangings in the bedrooms and the knit pillows decorated with the classic evil eye motif are some of them.

Experiences at Cape 9

Apart from the location, the style and the services, there is one more reason why you want to recommend Cape 9 to your friends. It is its creator, a super active hostess named Katerina Mandenaki, a real hospitality enthusiast that seems to be omnipresent, always full of positive energy and willing to give information on everything one could ask about Santorini. I was very impressed by her real passion for the island and her deep knowledge on its history and culture.
Katerina is a natural. She makes every guest feel truly welcome and is the one who can really enhance your experience on the island. She and her team are determined to make each day special from dawn to night; and they also know how to create a perfect vacation scenario for every guest.

They have designed exclusive wine experiences to specific wineries on the island that include a delightful wine tasting and dining with select dishes. They also collaborate with selected companies and can organize a variety of sailing experiences that include from a private cruise for two to a large day trip for a whole group
With one of the most important prehistoric settlements on the planet only a stone’s throw away from Cape 9, the famous colorful beaches in a very short distance and the charming medieval villages just a short drive away, art and culture could not be excluded from the explorative experience Cape 9 wishes to offer. Customized walking and driving tours to the amazing archaeological sites of the island, the exciting museums, the traditional villages with the distinctive architecture reveal secrets that despite the crowds Santorini still keeps. (Akrotiri is actually the most important archaeological site in the Cyclades. The city was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the 17th century BC when the volcanic material preserved the buildings and their content, just like at Pompeii).
Breakfast at Cape 9

Breakfast at Cape 9 is quite an experience too. Every morning we woke up to a rich, Mediterranean breakfast served in the privacy of our own patio. The people at the hotel had informed us that we could choose from a variety of different types of breakfast servings according to our liking and our health habits. Two huge trays with homemade dishes, fresh fruits and the yummiest pancakes I have ever tasted were waiting for us (at the time of our preference) at our outdoor dining area with the caldera view. I couldn’t think of a better way to start my day.
Cape 9 is ideal for everyone who wishes to experience one of the most beautiful islands on the planet in a personal and carefree manner. A place where the relaxation and the ease of a beautiful home meets the luxury and the pampering of an exclusive hotel.
