A 41-suite luxury retreat on the southeastern coast of Milos, Cyclades opens this June. Here is why Empiria Group’s fourth property is one to watch.
Milos has a way of making other Cycladic islands look almost ordinary. Lunar terrain, mineral cliffs, and a coastline that looks like it was carved rather than built. It is a strange, raw, almost otherworldly beauty, and very little hospitality on the island has known what to do with it. Eréma does.
Opening this June on Milos’s southeastern coast, Eréma is the newest hotel from Empiria Group, the family-run hospitality house behind some of the most quietly authoritative properties in the Cyclades. Founded by Antonis Eliopoulos and Kalia Konstantinidou, the group built its name in Santorini, expanded into Paros, and now arrives on Milos with a project that reads less like an opening and more like an argument for what Cycladic hospitality should feel like in 2026.
The Concept
Eréma means stillness, and the hotel takes the name seriously. This is not a resort built to entertain. It is a retreat built to slow guests down, structured around three elemental forces: land, light, and sea.
The architecture responds directly to Milos’s volcanic, almost lunar landscape: whitewashed volumes, tactile natural surfaces, and sea views designed to stay uninterrupted rather than framed for effect. It draws on Cycladic principles without performing them. The result, even from renderings, feels grounded rather than styled.
Interiors are by Athens-based Interior Design Laboratorium, working from a concept rooted in the island itself rather than an imported aesthetic.
The Suites
Eréma is an all-suite property, 41 of them, every one with a private pool and uninterrupted Aegean views. No standard rooms, no compromise category. For a hotel this size, that is a meaningful commitment, and it puts Eréma firmly in conversation with the handful of Greek properties built entirely around private outdoor space rather than communal amenity.
The Kitchen
Culinary direction comes from Yiannis Kioroglou, Empiria Group’s Culinary Director, who brings his Medite-Grecian philosophy to the property’s dining. For anyone who has followed Empiria’s other properties, this is the detail that matters most: the group’s kitchens have consistently been where its hotels go from beautiful to genuinely memorable.
This is Empiria Group’s fourth Greek property, following three five-star hotels in Santorini, two five-star hotels and a villa complex in Paros, and a boutique hotel in the Peloponnese. The pattern across all of them has been consistency of philosophy rather than repetition of formula: each property distinct, each one built around the specific character of where it sits.
Eréma continues that, on an island that has historically had far less luxury hospitality than its Cycladic neighbours, and far more reason for it.
