This May, Corfu becomes the epicenter of culinary excellence with the return of “Greek Chefs Abroad”, an event celebrating its fourth year under the theme “The Culture of Sharing.” This unique culinary journey brings together famous Greek chefs from around the globe to share their passion for Greek cuisine, creating unforgettable dining experiences at Mar-Bella Collection hotels.
A Celebration of Greek Gastronomy
The 2024 program promises an exciting lineup of events featuring renowned chefs Konstantinos Filippou, Dimitris Moudios, Giorgos Athanasopoulos, and Nikolas Poulmentis. Each will bring their international expertise and unique flair to Corfu and Parga, crafting menus that highlight the joy of sharing exquisite food with friends and family.
Event Highlights
Giorgos Athanasopoulos – June 22, 2024, at Nido
Giorgos Athanasopoulos, the acclaimed young chef from Belgium, kicks off the series. Owner of the Brussels-based restaurant Màloma, Giorgos is known for his commitment to seasonal, sustainable ingredients, and has been recognized as one of the most successful young chefs by the “Gault & Millau” awards. His philosophy revolves around using fresh, local ingredients to create dynamic and evolving menus. At Greek Chefs Abroad, Giorgos will collaborate with Nido’s head chef Marina Katsoula to reinterpret traditional Greek recipes, emphasizing the essence of sharing around a table.
Konstantinos Filippou – July 13, 2024, at Nido
Two-Michelin-starred chef Konstantinos Filippou will showcase his innovative culinary approach. Leading the acclaimed Restaurant Konstantin Filippou in Vienna, his menus predominantly feature seafood, reflecting his love for the sea and his innovative approach to traditional Greek cuisine. Filippou’s distinguished career includes three Bonnet awards for his creative gastronomy at Novelli in Vienna, accolades such as “Gault Millau Chef of the Year 2016,” and numerous high ratings from culinary guides. His dishes, inspired by his Greek roots and enriched by his global experiences, promise to deliver a daring yet traditional gastronomic experience.
Dimitris Moudios – August 3, 2024, at Elix
Dimitris Moudios, with a background in Michelin-starred kitchens and a penchant for culinary research, will present his avant-garde interpretations of Greek cuisine at the Elix hotel. Having honed his craft in prestigious establishments across Europe and South America, Moudios now owns the restaurant Ore in Bangkok, where he emphasizes the purity and freshness of ingredients. His creations, blending tradition with cutting-edge techniques, offer a fresh perspective on Greek flavors. Moudios’s innovative approach was shaped by his experiences at renowned restaurants like Atelier in Munich and Borago in Santiago.
Nikolas Poulmentis – September 6, 2024, at Elix
Closing the series, Nikolas Poulmentis, known for his appearances on Food Network and TBS, will join forces with Elix’s head chef Dimitris Kakalikidis. With over 20 years of experience in Mediterranean cuisine and a significant presence in New York’s culinary scene, Poulmentis has been a Chopped Champion and has cooked at the White House. His creative talent and extensive experience bring a unique touch to every dish. Together, they will create a culinary symphony that transcends borders, celebrating the richness of Mediterranean cuisine.
