Experience the magic of Claridge’s Christmas 2023 with the Louis Vuitton Tree, a 5.2-metre high masterpiece with chrome trunks and vintage flair!
In a fusion of luxury and tradition, Claridge’s and Louis Vuitton, both established in 1854, are joining hands to present the 2023 Claridge’s Christmas Tree. This collaboration marks a significant moment in the history of these two iconic names, both renowned for their association with the Art of Travel, which will be the central theme inspiring the tree’s design.
The spectacular Louis Vuitton creation is a Christmas tree like no other, soaring to an impressive height of 5.2 metres. This artistic marvel is framed within two grand Louis Vuitton ‘Wardrobe Trunks’, each adorned with vintage Claridge’s travel stickers and a strikingly large Louis Vuitton luggage tag, reminiscent of the travels and collections of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the founder.
The tree itself is a modern twist on a festive classic, composed of 15 vertically aligned chrome trunks of various heights, beautifully reflecting the Art Deco style of the architecture. At the top sits a model of Asnières, the historic family home and workshop of Louis Vuitton, situated along the banks of the Paris river. Adding a touch of whimsy, 21 Louis Vuitton Vivienne mascots, including a Father Christmas figure, are playfully arranged among the silver trunks, all set against the backdrop of Claridge’s iconic black and white marbled lobby.
This unique tree is wrapped in the grandeur of a Louis Vuitton trunk, echoing the brand’s legacy of crafting elegant cases for treasured items since 1875. This trunk now serves as a stunning showcase for the magical Claridge’s Christmas Tree, blending tradition with contemporary luxury.

The relationship between Claridge’s and Louis Vuitton dates back to the 1850s. The era saw Monsieur Louis Vuitton appointed as the personal layetier to Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III. During the same period, Empress Eugénie made Claridge’s her winter residence, often hosting Queen Victoria, which led to the hotel’s reputation as an annex to Buckingham Palace. It was Vuitton who personally packed the Empress’s trunks for her stays at Claridge’s, and in 1885, Louis Vuitton opened its first London store near Claridge’s, further cementing their intertwined histories.
Paul Jackson, Claridge’s General Manager, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating, “What an honour it is to welcome such a legendary house as Louis Vuitton to design our Claridge’s Christmas Tree this year. Christmas is the most magical time of year for us here at the hotel, and we look forward to seeing guests and visitors immerse themselves in Louis Vuitton’s world.”
