I get obsessed with hotels, with movies about hotels, and with people that make movies about hotels. And this is the case with my obsession to Wes Anderson.
I was at Milan for 48 hours only but I SIMPLY HAD to pay a visit to Luce Bar, this parallel universe created by Wes himself in Fondazione Prada, evoking the ambience and the era of Grand Budapest Hotel. In my mind, it was like visiting a hotel bar from a fictional world, painted in Wes pastel hues.
Although it may resemble to a movie set, Wes Anderson’s aim is to recreate a typical Milanese cafe and offer a real life experience: “It is for real life, and ought to have numerous good spots for eating, drinking, talking, reading, etc. While I do think it would make a pretty good movie set, I think it would be an even better place to write a movie. I tried to make it a bar I would want to spend my own non-fictional afternoons in”.
Τhe truth is, the place is made to be instagrammed… See for yourselves:
