When you love hotels in general, you have even more reasons to love the ones that stand out. Personally, I can appreciate equally a remote mountain chalet or a modern city hotel, a boutique hotel with a designer touch or a large, traditional luxury hotel. For me, each and every one has its virtues as long as it has something that makes it a leader in its category and offers genuine hospitality. A hotel category that will never cease to enchant me is the big classical luxury hotel. Countless rooms, huge lobbies, a really long reception desk, all these together with the personnel and guests create their own world, one much more carefree from the one we see in our everyday life.

Why I loved Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso

Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso belongs to that exact category and in particular to those big hotels that were created during the first golden era of Greek tourism in the sixties and seventies. It is located in the Kavouri suburb, just 30 minutes from the heart of Athens. Apart from its dreamy location with the stunning view to Athens Riviera sea, it also boasts an absolutely updated profile, not to mention a unique spa with the biggest thalassotherapy pool in Greece!

Some days ago, I was there to try the Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso hospitality and its famous spa. It was a chance for me to enjoy classic hotel pampering at its best, five star service, gourmet dishes, staying at a spacious suite with luxury furnishing. And of course, I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time to this parallel universe called the Divani Athens Spa & Thalasso Center.

First of all, this spa is huge. It has a long reception desk and a big lobby of its own. In its salt water thalassotherapy pool, guests find 16 different areas with water jets (hydro-massage stations), which treat skin and musculoskeletal problems as well as help to release tension and stress. There is also an extensive beauty centre with 25 treatment and massage rooms where one can enjoy tailor made treatments. This is why, the 3.500 sq.m. Thalassotherapy center is a unique “well being” retreat and a destination in itself.

Next I want to speak about my room. All rooms have a breathtaking view to the endless blue of the Saronic Gulf. Mine was a junior suite decorated in a soft palette, with great bedding and ample space at the living room. Finally, the bathroom. Oh, this bathroom… It was all in marble, with a jetted soaking tub that allows the happy guest to gaze at the view through a magic glass wall while enjoying a relaxing bath. The room had all I always love to find in my hotels: style, space, luxury and great view.

Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso is an all time classic hotel of Athens Riviera and a very good option for all visitors of Athens that wish to unwind in the most luxurious way, by the sea.
