One of the best and coolest adult only hotels in Greece, Racconto Boutique Design Hotel, promises a luxurious escape in an idyllic spot of Parga
So here I am in the middle of May, a month that I don’t want to accept that it is still spring and can’t wait to welcome summer vibes in the weather and mostly in my heart. And thankfully once again the Greek weather proves me right.
If there is one place that feels like an island without actually being one, this is Parga. As a true hotel lover, I decided to organize a weekend escape to this picturesque coastal town of the Ionian Sea, intrigued by the Racconto Boutique Design Hotel, a new entry that last summer was broadly discussed for its great style and for an international award that it received. Built amphitheatrically in a small gulf guarded by small islands in its entrance and a Venetian castle on top, Parga town was among the first places in Greece to become a popular tourist destination in the 60s and remains so until today. The truth is that up to recently, postcard-perfect Parga had it all except for the right hotel.
In one of the coolest Adults Only hotel in Greece
Fortunately, a well-travelled girl with a long experience in Public Relations, Sophia Vlassi, decided to create a modern Adults Only hotel in Greece that combines functionality and comfort with a sense of luxurious privacy. She assigned the project of her new hotel to the distinguished architect and interior designer, Panos Petridis, and named it Racconto (a word that in Italian means fairy tale) in order to evoke the hotel’s unique and sublime aesthetics.
She did such a good job that after one year of operation, in 2016, Racconto Boutique Design Hotel won the Global Award for the category “New Luxury Hotel of the Year” from Luxury Travel Guide in a ceremony held in London, welcoming a wide audience of leading hotel owners, travel experts and tour operators.
Τhe day I arrived there, Racconto had already been open for a week and the hotel team was adding the final touches so as to welcome its guests to its 8 rooms and 3 suites. Most of them are travel connoisseurs from around the world that flock there to enjoy both Parga’s bustling life and the exclusivity only Racconto Boutique Design Hotel can offer.
Looking at the elegant lobby area and my all-white spacious room, I knew I would enjoy a unique hospitality experience. All the interior spaces in the hotel have been lusciously decorated and furnished with eye-catching, quality items by renowned Italian and Greek brands.
The pool area is the part that every guest goes “wow”! Hidden behind the main building and perched on a green slope full of olive trees, it offers a secluded and relaxing spot where one can swim, enjoy meals and cocktails at the lounge or lie under the sun on the most awesome sunbeds I have ever seen. With cushions as thick as the anatomic mattresses in the rooms, and covered with luxurious fabrics, the sunbeds were a special order from Sophia who knows how to pamper guests and never stops to improve the Racconto experience.
“We are expecting Hermès fabrics for the bedding this week. The high standards of our services are our main priority, thus we invest a lot in improving them, in the most successful way. Our philosophy is that we sell a unique holiday experience, not just a room!” she tells me, revealing her dream to make a hotel that could add value to her hometown Parga. She also has the vision to expand the Racconto hospitality model in other places in Greece.
And I hope she does! That weekend at Racconto Boutique Design Hotel proved to be really therapeutic, making me clear my mind of winter stress and start my #greeksummer in the best way. With long walks in beautiful Parga, fresh fish at its taverns, revitalizing sleep thanks to the micro-climate of the region, and mostly a stylish and tranquil stay in an exquisite hotel.
