Assouline has released The Mark, a coffee table book documenting the history and contemporary life of the Upper East Side hotel, published in January 2026.
Assouline has published The Mark, a new coffee table book offering a behind-the-scenes look at The Mark, as the New York property marks its 100th anniversary. The book was released in January 2026 and is authored by Derek Blasberg.
The publication documents the hotel’s evolution over the past century, with a focus on its contemporary identity following its major renovation completed in 2005. The book covers the hotel’s interiors, guest experience, and role in New York’s social and cultural life, drawing on photography and narrative access to spaces not typically open to the public.

The Mark comprises 106 guest rooms and 47 suites, including what the hotel describes as the largest hotel penthouse suite in North America. Its interiors were redesigned by Jacques Grange, with contributions from designers and artists including Karl Lagerfeld, Guy de Rougemont, Mattia Bonetti, and Paul Mathieu. The book also references the hotel’s public spaces, dining venues, and long-standing associations with fashion and cultural events in New York.
According to Assouline, the book was developed in collaboration with the hotel and its creative partners to coincide with the centenary milestone. No print run figures or commercial distribution details beyond Assouline’s standard retail channels were disclosed.
The Mark is available through Assouline’s global distribution network beginning January 2026. Further anniversary-related initiatives at the hotel have not been announced.
