The Brown’s Hotel in London has recently introduced the “Sir Paul Smith Suite”, a collaborative design project between renowned designer Sir Paul Smith and Olga Polizzi, Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels
The “Sir Paul Smith Suite” is located in the Mayfair hotel in London, which has a rich literary history and was a meeting place for famous writers in the past. The suite was designed not only as a space for relaxation but also to inspire creativity through art and interesting design objects.
The suite features custom-made furniture, vintage pieces, hand-picked artwork, and luxurious interior pieces from the first Paul Smith Home Collection. Every detail was carefully selected, from the carpets to individual artworks, to reflect Sir Paul Smith’s unique taste.
Personal touches, such as a leather office chair from the 1970s that is normally located in Paul’s office in Covent Garden and a small library of art and design books, add to the overall sense of luxury and sophistication.
In addition to showcasing Sir Paul Smith’s own designs, the suite also features pieces from his collaborations with other brands, such as Italian luxury furniture maker DePadova, British lighting brand Anglepoise, and design company Maharam. The suite is a reflection of Sir Paul Smith’s philosophy of celebrating individuality and the unique character of each neighborhood. As he stated, “Just as Browns Hotel designs each room individually, we design each Paul Smith shop differently to celebrate the individuality of the area.”
Olga Polizzi, who is responsible for the design of the rooms at the Brown’s Hotel and also serves as the Director of Design for the entire Rocco Forte Hotels group, initiated the exclusive partnership with Sir Paul Smith. She praised the suite’s elegance and harmony, stating that it captures the atmosphere of the Brown’s Hotel with Sir Paul Smith’s personal touch.
Other unique pieces from Sir Paul Smith’s flagship store in Albemarle Street, located just a few meters from the hotel, are featured in other rooms of the hotel. These include bespoke Paul Smith + The Rug Company carpets and a Maharam headboard with geometric patterns inspired by the iconic iron facade of the building. Quirky details such as banana-shaped door handles and “fire dogs” created in honor of Sir Paul Smith’s first four-legged shop owner, Homer, are also included in the suite’s design.
The suite also includes limited edition prints by photographer Julian Broad, decorative furnishings from the Paul Smith collection released in early 2022, and an art wall with a diverse selection of prints and original artworks, a characteristic detail in every Paul Smith shop.
Overlooking the stylish Dover Street, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the suite’s caramel tones with natural light. This distinguished space features an expansive sitting room with its own dining area and an exquisitely appointed, spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed. The Sir Paul Smith Suite can be combined with neighbouring rooms to create a three-bedroom suite that’s perfect for families. The large bathroom features a bath with a built-in television, double shower, double washbasins and Irene Forte Skincare toiletries.
The Sir Paul Smith Suite is a true masterpiece, a stunning example of luxury design that reflects the unique character of both the designer and the Brown’s Hotel.
