He has received a Michelin star and even designs his own tableware line!
The Italian gastronomy sensation, Italian star chef Davide Oldani is bringing his famous “cucina pop” into Cotton House Hotel in Barcelona.
This year, there is a culinary secret in Barcelona: Italian star chef Davide Oldani, who is currently in an advertising campaign with Roger Federer, the world-class tennis player, and even designs his own tableware line, is bringing his ” Cucina Pop “concept until July 31 at the Hotel Cotton House in Barcelona. He is one of the most extraordinary protagonists of his guild and is now considered one of the most important representatives of contemporary Italian cuisine, because he proves that a restaurant with a Michelin star can offer an innovative and creative cuisine, that is tasty, healthy, light and varied and also aims to offer high quality at an affordable price.
After working with Italian chefs such as Gualtiero Marchesi, Oldani founded his first D’O restaurant in 2003, less than half an hour from the center of Milan, and received a Michelin star the following year. His preference is Italian classics, which he reinterprets and slims to a fresh, surprisingly light and at the same time rich in flavor kitchen, which is consistently based on seasonal products. The cooking style “POP-Cucina”, elaborated by Oldani, down to the last detail and so called, runs like a red thread through the philosophy and the concept of his D’O-gastronomy.
“Cucina POP” meets Batuar
The BATUAR adds a new highlight to Barcelona’s gastronomic scene: a restaurant with a cosmopolitan cocktail bar, housed in what was once the public sector of the cotton trade. The ambience expresses the spirit of the hotel: a certain colonial, elegant and at the same time modern flair. Of course, in a bar with a colonial flair, the more than 30 types of rums should not go unmentioned, which, like all other delicacies, including tapas, are served on the large terrace in fine weather. Incidentally, the name “Batuar” refers to the cotton pressing machine used to remove all impurities from the cotton.
Who is who
Davide Oldani has several restaurants in Italy and Asia, has written books and newspaper articles on cooking, collaborated with universities and television programmes and has been an advertising image for various brands.
The Cotton House Hotel, which is located in an emblematic 19th century building in a classical style, shares Davide Oldani’s passion for well done work and service, and a deep commitment to hospitality that is embodied in serving the customer in an exquisite but warm and intimate manner. The emphasis on careful design is another point in common between the hotel and the cuisine of the Italian chef invited for this pop-up restaurant.
