The eternal city’s new sensation combines the best of both worlds wrapped in fine luxury!
There are hotels and then there is Rooms of Rome, or else, 24 exclusive apartments located in a formerly abandoned 17th century noble family palazzo in the valley of Imperial Rome. But let’s delve into the 5 W’s of the story. The hotel is located inside Palazzo Rhinoceros, where Alda Fendi recently installed her latest art project Fondazione Alda Fendi – Esperimenti. Αs if starting off with such a base wasn’t enough, ‘starchitect’ Jean Nouvel andand experienced hotelier Kike Sarasola, jumped into the project creating cutting- edge designed boutique apartments that instantly became the talk-of-the town.
The -googled as- Fendi hotel in Rome is designed in an innovative way- to say the least: in fact, it’s something utterly fresh and new, a one-of-a kind experience. All of the apartments have hidden sliding doors and secret features that can easily transform the space, which combines natural light and midcentury-inspired furniture, brickwork, ancient timber beams and trompe l’oeil panels. Also, each of the apartment door frames has haiku poems by Raffaele Curi engraved in the marble work and every night, the staff draws the backlit blinds in the rooms, to bring visitors back to Rome in 1950s. Other references to the hotels’ (and the city’s’ history) are the retro tiles and the original ceiling works.
The top floor of the palazzo as well as the impressive rooftop, are occupied by the high-class restaurant Caviar Kaspia, where guests can enjoy traditional Italian dishes with a twist, like linguine spiked with truffles and bottarga, as well as Russian-inspired caviar-based treats. The panoramic terrace contains a polymorphic aperitivo lounge and offers a stunning 360-degree view to the city, from St. Peter’s dome to the ruins of the Roman Forum.
7Along with the art exhibitions casually taking place at the ground floor gallery – the first were Michelangelo’s Florentine and Roman architectural drawings- guests are pampered with luxurious amenities such as L’Occitane bathroom goodies, before bedtime massages, perfumed room themes and specialized courses in Roman cooking.
