Villa Vager Mani offers unforgettable hospitality at an off the beaten track village of Peloponnese
There are two sorts of travellers. On the one hand, there are those who find comfort in a fancy boutique hotel or a resort with great style and luxurious facilities ensuring they will have a great, uneventful holiday. And then, there are the restless ones, looking for an authentic holiday experience which can only be found in an accommodation focusing on the true essence of pampering and at the same time bearing a location that is the locals’ best-kept secret.
Villa Vager Mani at Peloponnese seems to be the perfect place for those eclectic travellers.

I have been all over Peloponissos, I love Messinia and its heavenly secret places. I have done my site seeing too, visited both the picturesque Kardamyli and Foneas beach, with its crystal clear blue-green waters. But it was only last September when I reached Megali Mantineia, that I discovered this really hidden gem, an old 1858 stone mansion in the heart of a tiny traditional village. This fortified mansion dating back to 1858 has been designated by the Greek Ministry of Culture as ‘a work of art’ and a historical monument, an excellent example of a post-revolution residence in north Mani. The idea behind its recent renovation by the Vager family has been to restore it to its original glory by combining its unique character and original elements with modern enhancements that converted it into a luxury boutique hotel.
Νow, a boutique 4* hotel, Villa Vager Mani features four large suites and offers the precious experience of unwinding in unpretentious luxury. The four suites, decorated by the owner and interior designer Marina Vager are named after their individual interiors and decor characteristics: the Boho, the Blue, the Jungle and the Oriental Suite.

Staying at The Boho Suite
We arrived on a hot, summerish Friday in the middle of September and were led to our suite. We were about to stay at the two-room Boho suite for two days. We were about to enjoy waking up opening the green shutters in order to gaze at the surrounding village houses, the olive-tree hills, and the sea, We were about to hear the rooster and relax on our private terrace with the swing. And we did!

Straw baskets, hand-woven bed covers, antique closets, and wooden platters topped with figs and grapes next to the fireplace, all built up to a super comfy double bed with puffy, crisp sheets. The simplicity of a rustic village house mixed with high-end lush details makes for a perfect, relaxing decoration vibe that takes you back in time while eyeing the future.
