It’s the most wonderful time of the year, as the famous verse goes, be it for the snow, the colourful lights, or the presents and the atmosphere. But there is one thing that takes the cake (pun intended) : the Christmas desserts. That’s when some of the top pastry chefs worldwide step up their creativity game, presenting desserts that look like art in all shapes and forms. Christmas trees, snowmen, pines cones and even train-shaped yule logs- so beautiful you almost don’t want to eat them (but eventually will).

Hotel Plaza Athenee Paris- The Vanilla pine forest
Αward-winning pastry chef Angelo Musa created an impressive dessert with the flavour of his signature dessert, ‘100% Vanilla’. This year he has taken the concept to a whole new level by creating an entire pine forest, featuring seven snow-covered fir trees. This delicious wonderland features sparkling chocolate bushes and a dark chocolate mendiant base for the ultimate festive indulgence.

Inspired by the amber-hued Erica honey, Francois Peret opted for a delicate Savoy sponge cake topped with voluptuous whipped cream.

One of the most chic looking festive desserts. But also, what about that incredible marble cake?
Le Meurice, Paris- The lemon praline log
This year’s yule log combines a roast chestnut base with lemon praline filling. Yummy! As always it is made by the talented pastry chef Cedric Grolet and his team who have transformed fresh chestnuts into a spectacular yule log that’s made with a variety of textures – mousse, cream, crisp and candied – all balanced with a roast chestnut base and lemon praline filling.
Cedric Grolet has also created a Christmas version of his trademark dessert, the famous Rubik’s Cube.

Τhe fifth column of Hotel de Crillon’s facade has an interesting story- it was destroyed by accident in 1944. This year’s yule log by Pablo Gicquel is an homage to the hotel’s history.
The Penisula, Paris, – The Chinese-inspired log
Completely different than what one would expect, this year’s log was inspired by the chinese tradition. Not only that- on the menu you can also find vanilla rocks with gold leaves.
