The coastal resort is being developed on the Punta Negra headland and will comprise 131 rooms and suites, alongside multiple dining venues, wellness facilities, and leisure amenities.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will debut Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra in Calvià, close to Puerto Portals, marking the brand’s entry into Mallorca. The resort is being developed on the Punta Negra headland and will comprise 131 rooms and suites, alongside a spa, a portfolio of dining venues, and leisure facilities positioned along the coastline. Set within landscaped grounds overlooking the Mediterranean, the property will provide direct access to two coves and uninterrupted sea views across much of the site. The development follows a low-rise layout designed to sit within the natural contours of the headland and surrounding pine landscape.

Accommodation will include 131 rooms and suites, among them 26 suites and nine casitas, as well as rooms and suites with private plunge pools. Three rooftop suites will feature private pools. Guest facilities will include a wellness centre with nine treatment rooms, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, hydrotherapy areas, and a fitness centre.

The resort’s dining offering will bring several established restaurant concepts under one destination. These include Matsuhisa, the Japanese-Peruvian restaurant brand created by Nobu Matsuhisa; Leña, the grill-focused concept by Spanish chef Dani García; and Jacinta, a restaurant centred on contemporary Mexican cuisine. Additional venues will cover all-day dining, Mediterranean-led menus, terrace dining, and poolside service.

Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra forms part of the group’s continued expansion in European resort destinations. The brand currently operates properties in Barcelona and Bodrum, with further resort developments announced in locations including Sardinia and southern Portugal. Mallorca, particularly its southwest coast, has seen sustained interest from international luxury hotel operators over the past decade.

Duarte Correia, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, said the resort’s design approach draws on the character of the Punta Negra site and Mallorca’s cultural and natural heritage, with an emphasis on landscape integration, local craftsmanship, and a restrained architectural language. The company also confirmed that curated artworks by local and international artists will feature across guestrooms and public areas.
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group stated that Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra is scheduled to welcome its first guests in spring 2026, with further details on reservations and operational phases to be released ahead of opening.
