Living Theros is a heartwarming hotel made for and of summer in Tinos
Housed in a 19th-century building, hanging on the hill of the village of Kardiani, touching with its view the blue horizon of the Aegean, in 2018, the award-winning Living Theros Hotel opened its doors and since then it has hosted visitors from all over the world every year.
Kardiani, a typically Cycladic settlement with a magnificent view, untouched by mass tourism with running water, springs and vegetation, combines the mountain with the sea. The locals say it is one of the villages of love (hence the heart + n). Kardiani was the ideal place for a hotel like Living Theros, built harmoniously, with elegance that reflects Aegean aesthetics and character.
The 6 rooms are all different from each other, and resulted from the configuration of an old house in suites and the “don’t tear down” approach of both the project architect and the interior design team. During the renovation of the building, an effort was made to keep unchanged many elements that were there from before, such as the marble sinks, mosaics and marble lintels. Elements of Tinos have been added to each room, such as the characteristic green marble and the geometric patterns that refer to pigeon houses, a trademark of the island.
Living Theros has an unassumingly cool style. Its comfortable rooms are bathed in light and have minimalist decor based on natural elements. At the same time, it maintains a character of discreet luxury by providing high-level amenities that meet the needs of a well-traveled public. Thus, one will find luxurious mattresses and fluffy bathrobes, rainfall showers, Bluetooth speakers and flatscreen TVs with Netflix connection, an espresso machine and capsules and a breakfast basket filled with local goodies and selected Greek products. But above all, what sets Living Theros apart is the truly tailor-made hospitality experience put together by its founders.
But what does Living Theros mean? The result is envisioning a space where the occupants would fit in from the first moment. A place where you live, you don’t just stay. This is also one of the main features of Living Theros, it is a living organism not just a house. After all, it is built among the houses of permanent residents of the island, giving new meaning to the phrase “like a local” which has become the ultimate request of millions of travelers. Here in the morning you go out and greet the neighbor, Mr. Antonis who is in his 90s.
Living Theros, from its inception, signals a set of ideals that tourism needs to champion. It is a way of life, slow, authentic, full of sun and local color that celebrates the very joy of life and respects the place and the environment.
Living Theros, constantly evolving, welcomes travelers this year who are looking for a lively summer, full of authentic experiences on the island of Tinos.
