Designer Luke Edward Hall created sophisticated prints inspired by a cool movie!
Le Sirenuse Hotel is one of the hospitality landmarks of the Amalfi Coast. Its perfect location, overlooking the bay of Positano, and its “tradition-meets-sophistication” atmosphere make it a staple for hotel lovers around the world.
Le Sirenuse opened in 1951, when four Neapolitan brothers, the Marchesi Aldo, Paolo, Anna and Franco Sersale turned their summer house in Positano into a charming hotel, overlooking the bay of Positano. Today it has 58-rooms and besides being considered one of Italy’s leading seaside luxury hotels, it still retains the intimate, cultured atmosphere of a private home.
Franco, an art connoisseur whose impeccable taste did so much to define Le Sirenuse’s signature style, passed away in January 2015. But this remains a cherished family concern. Since 1992, Franco’s son Antonio has looked after the day-to-day running of the hotel, while Carla, Antonio’s wife, designs Le Sirenuse, Positano Mare Collection, a line of beachwear and womenswear inspired by Positano and sold at the Emporio Sirenuse boutique.
Emporio Sirenuse is a gateway into a charmed world. It’s a men’s store and women’s store across the road from Le Sirenuse hotel where you can find you’ll find a highly curated range of lifestyle items as well as the iconic Le Sirenuse Positano ready-to-wear collection.
Emporio Sirenuse’s latest capsule collection is designed by British designer Luke Edward Hall and it’s really unique and incomparably chic. Luke created two Positano-inspired illustrations for Emporio Sirenuse’s spring/summer 2018 collection, to be used on shirts, swimming trunks and ceramics. He came up with a new version of his classic graphic faces, inspired by 1980s clothing prints, along with a new Positano postcard, depicting the famous view of the town from the hotel’s terrace, reinterpreted in his playful, colourful style.
But his designs came with a twist! Hall admitted to being a great fan of Luca Guadagnino’s latest movie Call me by your name, as he had already read the book and admired the director’s films. His Matisse-like motif was actually inspired by the shirt that Elio (Timothée Chalamet) wears in the final scene. What a treat for cinema and interior design lovers!
Luke has been a guest at Le Sirenuse on many occasions and fell in love with the hotel and the magical atmosphere of Positano when he first visited in 2015. Emporio Sirenuse continues to present a constantly renewed, highly curated range of homeware, table and lifestyle items, many of them exclusives, arising from collaborations with a long list of artists and designers that include Giuseppe Ducrot, Luke Edward Hall, Coralla Maiuri and Allegra Hicks.
