As a true hotel lover, I simply cannot resist a room with an emblematic view. This is why Hotel de Vendôme, a five star hotel and member of the Small Luxury Hotels, located at the legendary Place de Vendôme, had me at hello. Then, it went on to pamper me in many other ways, and so it is now in my list of favorite stays in Paris.
Its instagram-worthy restaurant/ breakfast room was another reason why Hotel de Vendôme captured my heart. Inspired by the 50s fashion ateliers, it oozes Parisian finesse. Every day, you find yourself eating croissants and french pastry (made by famous Lenotre) among pied-de-poulle sofas and velvet cushions in “Dior grey” tones – thinking that your mornings cannot get any more “couture” than that.
The redesign of the restaurant plus all the chairs with the houndstooth motif is the work of Italian designer Michele Bönan while the fabrics are all from Italian textile designers, Dedar.
Moving upstairs, I was happy to discover that the hotel’s spacious rooms and suites furnished in Louis XV, XVI and French Empire pieces offer excellent sleep quality on super comfy beds, plenty of storage space and luxury amenities not to mention the views to Place Vendôme, Rue Saint Honore or the small back courtyard.
The sophisticated dishes of Chef Josselin Marie and the haute patisserie desserts gave another meaning to evenings with plans than just include room service…
From the moment you set your foot on the door carpet that reads “1 Place Vendôme” ( a unique address on the whole planet) you feel the original french DNA of the hotel and the history of the building that goes long back to the 18th century and once used to be the townhouse of an aristocrat and then an embassy .
It is an interesting fact that Hotel de Vendôme has been recently taken over by the famous jewellery house Chopard (whose boutique is located at the ground floor and) which intends to update its elegance in the most glorious way.
