Have you seen it or not yet? Prepare for old-world glamour, imaginative suspense and breathtaking photography! The 2022 remake of the classic movie “Death on the Nile” also includes some really jaw-dropping settings at a majestic hotel by the river Nile. We are talking about the famous Old Cataract Hotel that goes back to 1899 when it was created by Thomas Cook to appeal to European travellers. Since then, with a name inspired by the marriage of the river and the pink granite wall that forms the first cataract of the Nile, the hotel has offered its hospitality to famous guests including Tsar Nicholas II, Winston Churchill, Howard Carter, Margaret Thatcher, Princess Diana, and Agatha Christie herself who wrote the novel Death on the Nile while staying there.
In 1978 the novel turned into an iconic movie which was shot at this stunning Victorian Palace. But what about the awesome hotel that appears grandly from pink granite stairs in the 2022’s remake? Is it the real thing? According to the official information that was given about the filming locations of Kenneth Branagh’s remake, the magnificent Death on the Nile hotel was recreated at the Longcross Studios. The production team made a replica based on visuals captured during their trip to the actual Aswan’s luxurious hotel.
