How the iconic Parisian hotel Le Grand and its lavish festive decoration got me into Christmas mood.
So my story about Intercontinental Paris Le Grand goes like this
I had an invitation from Longines to visit Paris for the launch of their Equestrian Collection (which you have to check out because it is amazingly elegant). It was Wednesday 30th November late in the evening, when we arrived at the iconic Intercontinental Paris Le Grand, opposite L’ Opera Garnier.
I slept in the dreamiest room of Paris with two 5th floor balconies (the ones that emerge between typical Parisian roofs) overlooking the whole city, including the Eiffel tower, and woke up to the day Intercontinental Paris Le Grand puts on its lavish festive decoration (that is the 1st of December)!
I slept with mistletoe and red flowers in the lobby and woke up to find Christmas trees, shininglights and Nutcrackers, all over the place.
Really I can’t think of a better way to land on Christmas Wonderland than this! Thank you, Intercontinental Paris Le Grand.
Let me add some interesting facts about this unique historic hotel:
- It was inaugurated by Empress Eugenie in 1862
- It is an entire block opposite Opera Garnier and is situated is situated within an 800 square metre winter garden.
- On the ground floor, one finds the famous, also historic cafe, Café de la Paix
- Roman Polanski set much of his 1988 film Frantic, starring Harrison Ford, at the Intercontinental Paris Le Grand.
