And a new star in the kitchen, talented chef George Kaperdas.
Byzantino Restaurant, the all-time classic Athenian meeting point, has been part of the city’s history for over 50 years, offering warm ambience and cosmopolitan feel. This season, Byzantino has a new star in the kitchen, talented chef George Kaperdas.
George Kaperdas, right hand of Executive Chef Kostas Athanassiou, has been trained and worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, such as the “The Jane” in Antwerp, the “Erno’s Bistro” in Frankfurt and the “Tom Aikens” as well as “Gordon Ramsey, Savoy Hotel” in London. In Byzantino he has created an eclectic menu inspired by Greek products featuring seasonal ingredients, and comfort food references.
The menu includes a choice of appetizers, such as the Rocket and spinach salad with crispy kavourmas and San Michali cheese flakes, the Sautéed scallops with prosciutto from Euritania and asparagus, as well as the Baked sfela cheese from Messinia with preserved quince.
From the main courses, try the Ravioli Pastitsio with fresh and frumenty béchamel sauce, the Beef cheeks with black truffled potato purée and red wine sauce and the Sautéed sea bass fillet with cauliflower, grape and curry sauce. The menu also features healthy, light dishes, such as the Quinoa burger with beetroot relish and mustard cream, the Beef fillet with sautéed kale and the Lamb chops with quinoa, pomegranate and mint – yoghurt sauce. The delicious desserts, are certainly a must-try: Pumpkin cheesecake, Apple pie with cinnamon crumble, Brownie with chocolate mousse brownie and Tart with fresh berries.
On Sundays, Byzantino is offering the richest buffet in town, an ideal choice for a family outing. Children can play with the animateur at the kid’s corner, a designated area located inside the restaurant, while parents can relax and enjoy their lunch.
