London’s original Hoxton hotel enters a new chapter as The Hoxton Shoreditch unveils refreshed interiors and celebrates 20 years with special events across Hoxton properties throughout 2026
The Hotel That Started It All
In 2006, when boutique hotels were still redefining the rules of urban hospitality, The Hoxton Shoreditch opened its doors in an unlikely location: a former East London car park. Twenty years later, that experimental spirit has grown into a global brand.

The Hoxton Shoreditch, the original property that launched the Hoxton brand in 2006, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with refreshed interiors and a year of special events.
Today The Hoxton counts 19 hotels across the UK, Europe and the United States, with upcoming openings planned in Melbourne, Oslo, Nashville and Mexico City. To mark the milestone, the original Shoreditch outpost has undergone a thoughtful redesign led by Ennismore’s in-house creative studio AIME Studios. The goal was not to reinvent the hotel, but to evolve it, bringing in lighter, more contemporary touches while preserving the relaxed, lived-in atmosphere that defined the Hoxton identity from the beginning.
A Lobby That Feels Like Shoreditch’s Living Room
The refreshed lobby retains several of the elements longtime guests will recognise instantly. The original poured concrete flooring remains, paired with stone fireplaces and oversized glass pendants that hang dramatically in the double-height space.

The redesigned lobby at The Hoxton Shoreditch blends industrial materials with warm contemporary interiors.
Large floor-to-ceiling windows flood the room with natural light, reinforcing the lobby’s role as an informal gathering point, part hotel lounge, part neighbourhood living room. Design references quietly nod to Shoreditch’s industrial heritage. Brick walls and dark timber surfaces recall East London’s past industries, while details such as patchwork glass tables and draped fabric lampshades reinterpret Victorian craftsmanship through a contemporary lens.

Comfort remains central to the space. Low-slung sofas, velvet lounge chairs and bouclé textures create an inviting atmosphere, punctuated by chrome accents and marble coffee tables. High-top tables and window seats encourage casual working or people-watching, reinforcing the social rhythm that has always defined the Hoxton brand.
Local Art and Vintage Finds
Art continues to anchor the hotel firmly in its East London context. Among the works displayed are paintings and prints depicting local landmarks, including London Fields Lido, the Rio Cinema, and Pavilion Bakery. Artists featured in the space include Becky Baur, Alys Elisabeth, Tommie Liddell, and Lucy Mahon, all of whom bring a distinctly London visual language to the interiors.

Much of the furniture has also been given a second life. Vintage pieces were carefully restored and reupholstered in collaboration with Rose Raw Rees, blending sustainability with the layered aesthetic that has long defined the Hoxton look. The result is a space that feels curated rather than styled — familiar, eclectic and unmistakably Shoreditch.
Celebrating Like It’s 2006
The redesign arrives as part of a wider anniversary celebration across the Hoxton portfolio.
Throughout 2026, the brand will mark its twentieth birthday with a series of creative initiatives. Expect limited-edition merchandise, room drops, digital storytelling projects and surprise events across Hoxton hotels worldwide, with Shoreditch leading the celebrations.
Two decades on, the original Hoxton continues to represent a defining idea in contemporary hospitality: the hotel not as a destination apart from the city, but as an extension of its neighbourhood.
