The wellness-led luxury brand will debut in the UK with a hotel, spa and residences inside the restored Grade II–listed Whiteleys building in Bayswater.
Six Senses will open its first London hotel inside the former Whiteleys department store in Bayswater, marking the brand’s entry into the UK. The project forms part of the large-scale redevelopment of the historic Art Deco building, which is being transformed into a mixed-use destination combining hospitality, wellness and residential components.
The hotel will feature 110 guest rooms and suites, with accommodations starting from approximately 33 square metres. In addition, the development will include 14 branded residences, with owners gaining access to hotel services and wellness programming associated with the Six Senses brand.

Originally opened in the early 20th century, Whiteleys was one of London’s landmark department stores before being redeveloped into a shopping centre in the 1980s and eventually closing in 2018. The current redevelopment is led by a Meyer Bergman–advised fund, with Finchatton acting as development manager, and is being carried out in collaboration with British architectural firm Foster + Partners. Key heritage elements, including the Grade II–listed façade, central courtyard, dome and the building’s original internal staircase, will be preserved.
Interiors for Six Senses London are being designed by AvroKO, working alongside executive architects EPR. The design is expected to reference the building’s Art Deco origins while incorporating contemporary elements, with artworks by British artists displayed throughout the property.
Wellness will form a central part of the hotel’s offering. The Six Senses Spa will include a fitness area of approximately 325 square metres, a 20-metre indoor swimming pool, an Alchemy Bar and relaxation spaces. A private social and wellness club for residents and members is also planned, featuring a lounge, coworking areas, dining spaces and wellness rooms.
“I feel nostalgic when talking about Whiteleys. I grew up in the neighborhood and my parents used to bring me here,” said Neil Jacobs, Chief Executive Officer of Six Senses. “It is a wonderful opportunity to pay homage to this heritage while bringing our brand values to life in this part of London.”
Marcus Meijer, Chief Executive Officer of Meyer Bergman, described the agreement as a key element of the wider Queensway regeneration plan, while Finchatton co-founder Alex Michelin said the project would introduce a new type of social and wellness-led hospitality concept to London.
An opening date for Six Senses London has not yet been announced, with further details expected to be released closer to launch.
