The Carlton Milan opens today after a major €60 million renovation by Rocco Forte Hotels, introducing new design, dining and wellness experiences to Via della Spiga
A Significant New Opening in the Heart of Milan

The Carlton has officially opened its doors today, marking Rocco Forte Hotels’ tenth property in Italy and unveiling a complete reimagining of one of the city’s most prestigious addresses. The hotel features 71 rooms and suites, two restaurants, a signature bar and a serene wellness destination, distributed across entrances on Via Senato 5 and Via della Spiga 8.
The unveiling follows an extensive renovation by architects Philip Vergeylen and Paolo Moschino, guided by the creative vision of Olga Polizzi, Deputy Chair and Director of Design at Rocco Forte Hotels. The new interiors reflect a confident blend of Milanese tradition and contemporary sophistication, with bold colour palettes, Art Deco influences and an elegant sense of scale.
* The hotel also appears in our edit of the best new luxury hotels to visit in 2026.
Design-Led Spaces in the Fashion District
The Carlton’s refreshed identity responds to its location in the Quadrilatero della Moda. Rooms and public areas showcase refined materials, sculptural lighting and a distinctly Italian design language that resonates with the district’s fashion heritage. The atmosphere is quietly luxurious, curated to appeal to international travellers and the city’s style-conscious clientele.
Three Culinary Destinations by Fulvio Pierangelini
The gastronomic offering is rooted in the culinary philosophy of Fulvio Pierangelini and unfolds across three complementary concepts.
Spiga
The hotel’s main restaurant presents a seasonal menu that celebrates Italian ingredients with an understated approach to technique and presentation.
Café Floretta
Accessible from Via della Spiga, Café Floretta is an all-day space defined by botanical-inspired interiors and a domed glass ceiling that fills the room with natural light. It is designed as a social hub for meetings, gatherings and informal occasions.
The Carlton Bar
Aperitivo culture takes centre stage in the bar, where renowned mixologist Salvatore Calabrese introduces signature cocktails inspired by the creative pulse of Milan between the 1960s and 1980s. The Carlton Garden will complement the bar experience when it opens in spring 2026.
Wellness at the Irene Forte Spa
The Irene Forte Spa spans 280 square metres and brings together bio-innovation, nature-led treatments and restorative rituals. Facilities include treatment rooms, a nail salon and a Thermal and Relaxation Suite featuring a sauna, steam room, sensory showers and sound beds. An all-day fitness centre and the Forte Vita Bar complete the wellness offering.
