The Lynx Hotel in Florina stole my heart with misty mornings, exquisite dining, and ultimate relaxation
It only took two things to make me fall in love with The Lynx. One was everything inside the hotel—elegant, modern, and effortlessly luxurious. The other? Everything outside—the intoxicating beauty of Florina, with its misty mornings, towering eucalyptus trees, and cinematic landscapes.
From the very first moment, it was clear—this place is a hidden masterpiece.

Perched atop a privileged spot where an old Xenia hotel once stood (and if you know anything about Greece’s legendary Xenia hotels, you know they were always built in the best locations), The Lynx Mountain Resort in Florina offers a stay that is both sophisticated and deeply connected to nature. Nestled in a forested hillside just minutes from the picturesque town, it delivers breathtaking views of the city and the dramatic landscapes beyond.

The lobby sets the perfect mood: warm and elegant, with plush seating and floor-to-ceiling windows that let nature steal the show. But what really drew me in was the modern fireplace at the heart of the space. Guests gathered around it with steaming mugs of mountain tea, their relaxed chatter blending with the soft crackling of the fire. Time seemed to slow down, in the best way possible.
The Lynx Suite
Cozy Luxury at Its Best. My suite was the definition of understated luxury. A spacious setup with a separate living room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a fireplace that made everything feel extra cozy. Every detail was carefully thought out—the softest robes, neatly arranged wooden hangers, and a minibar stocked with handpicked local treats.

Mornings here were pure magic. I stretched out in the crisp white linens, sipped freshly brewed coffee, and watched the mist—siniaki, as the locals call it—slowly lift over the eucalyptus trees outside. The only sound? A distant church bell and the rustling of leaves. It was the kind of peaceful start that makes you want to stay in bed just a little longer. When asked what I took with me as my most precious memory, it was without hesitation these mornings—quiet, atmospheric, and utterly unforgettable.
The Lofts
While I enjoyed my suite, my friend opted for one of the Lynx Lofts on the penthouse level. With a separate bedroom and living space, plus a sleek modern design, it was the perfect mix of privacy and style

The real highlight? A luxurious bathtub beneath ceiling windows, allowing for the ultimate relaxation under natural light or a sky full of stars. She spent her evenings soaking in the warm water, unwinding in the peaceful ambiance—a stay that was both indulgent and serene.
Gastronomy at Six Lakes
Named after the six lakes in the region, Six Lakes Restaurant is more than just a place for breakfast—it’s a gastronomic destination in its own right. Mornings began with warm tsoureki drizzled with honey, traditional pies with rich, flaky crusts, and velvety Greek yogurt topped with spoon sweets. Simple, fresh, and full of flavor, it was the kind of breakfast that felt both indulgent and comforting, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead.

During my stay, I also indulged in unforgettable dinners, where dishes like perfectly cooked taliata and delicate beef tartare became instant favourites. The menu is a blend of refined flavours and local influences, executed with precision and creativity.
Adding to the magic, one Saturday evening, the hotel hosted a special jazz trio event in the lobby—a night of expertly crafted cocktails, a buzzing atmosphere, and an irresistible selection of finger food. From bao buns and mini burgers to sushi and tempura shrimp, it was a cosmopolitan experience that felt right at home in this mountain retreat. With the fireplace crackling and live music setting the mood, it was one of those evenings that you wish would never end.
White Mist Spa & The Enchanted Forest Hot Tub
After a day of exploring the region, there was only one place I wanted to be: the White Mist Spa. A space designed for deep relaxation, it felt like a hidden sanctuary within the hotel. The sauna, the massages, the calming herbal teas—it was a ritual of pure indulgence.

But the highlight? The forest hot tub. As the sky turned hues of pink and lavender, I sank into the steaming water, a glass of rich Florina red wine in hand. The silhouettes of tall trees framed the horizon, and in that moment, it felt like the world had paused just for me.
Exploring Florina
A City That Feels Like a Film Set! Florina isn’t just a scenic town; it’s a place where history, culture, and artistry intertwine. As I strolled along the Sakulevas River, past beautifully preserved mansions and charming cafés, it was easy to see why legendary filmmaker Theodoros Angelopoulos chose this town as the backdrop for seven of his award-winning films. The city has an old-world, cinematic charm that’s hard to put into words—melancholic yet romantic, atmospheric yet full of life.

For those who appreciate art, the Gallery of Artists of Florina and the Museum of Contemporary Art are must-visits. Meanwhile, history lovers will be drawn to the Archaeological Museum, where the region’s past comes to life.
And then, of course, there’s the wine. Florina’s surrounding countryside is home to some of Greece’s most renowned wineries. I couldn’t resist visiting Alpha Estate, where a tasting session turned into an afternoon of storytelling and laughter over glasses of velvety red Xinomavro.
Final Thoughts: A Five-Star Escape That Feels Like a Secret. The Lynx Mountain Resort is not just another luxury hotel—it’s an experience. A place where modern elegance meets untamed nature, where every moment feels curated yet effortless. Whether you come for the design, the tranquility, or the immersive experiences, one thing is certain: you’ll leave with a heart full of memories and a longing to return.
And trust me—I’m already planning my next stay.
