To kick off the festive season, The London EDITION has unveiled its annual Christmas tree, designed by artist Daniel Lismore in collaboration with producer Lyndon Ogbourne of LSD Studio.
There is no doubt, this is one of the most amazing Christmas Trees of 2022. Unveiled on 23rd November, the 18-foot London Edition Christmas tree is emblematic of Daniel Lismore‘s signature style, layering gold and jewel-coloured upcycled fabrics and textiles to create an elaborate, opulent tree, topped with an angelic figure.
Lismore has long been an active campaigner for the recycling of clothes. He has also worked as an ambassador of the climate change charity Cool Earth and recently collaborated with Vivienne Westwood on her Climate Revolution projects, so it was natural that conscious consumption was front of mind when planning his tree installation.
“To me Christmas is such a special time and I was thrilled by the prospect of creating this year’s Christmas Tree at The London EDITION. My message this year is that although it’s vitally important for us all to have fun, be fabulous and live our lives, we have to be careful about our actions and their consequences. In my work I am always trying to get the point across that recycling is always a great idea; in particular at this time of year repurposing is a huge part of what I do and I truly think it could be the future for Christmas.”
LSD Studios, famed for their large-scale installations with fashion houses such as Balmain and Burberry, aided the production of Daniel’s vision of the tree in line with the sustainable goals they set out to achieve. Daniel and Lyndon used electric vehicles to deliver the materials to The London EDITION and incorporated repurposed timber and biodegradable vinyls to create this masterpiece in the most eco-conscious way possible. “The aspiration of this Christmas tree was to repurpose and reuse.” Lyndon stated “that they want to put an end to the wastage that the fashion industry is often guilty of. I’m proud to be involved in this grand Christmas project and look forward to seeing Daniel’s work and his magic.”
The Christmas tree was unveiled in the lobby of the famous London hotel on Wednesday 23rd November and will be on display until the New Year.
In celebration of the festive season, toasts with friends and family were made in The London EDITION’s iconic Lobby Bar with an exclusive cocktail for the holidays. Guests and visitors alike enjoyed a Cheer-y Me Up cocktail, where 15% of the sales were donated to Greenpeace; featuring Grey Goose, Savoia, Cherry herring, nutmeg, pear sorbet, lemon juice and egg white.
