The Connaught Christmas Tree 2025 has been unveiled in Mayfair, designed by artist Urs Fischer. A luminous celebration of togetherness lights up Carlos Place
A New Artistic Era for a Mayfair Tradition
The Connaught has officially unveiled its Connaught Christmas Tree 2025, this year imagined and designed by Swiss-born contemporary artist Urs Fischer. Rising elegantly over Carlos Place in the heart of Mayfair, the 31-foot Nordmann Fir marks the hotel’s highly anticipated annual moment: the start of the festive season on Mount Street. Born in Zurich in 1973 and now based in Los Angeles, Urs Fischer is known for playful, thought-provoking works spanning sculpture, installation, painting, and photography. His practice is defined by unconventional materials and a subtle, often mischievous examination of perception and reality.

This year also celebrates a milestone—a decade of artist-designed Christmas trees, a now-iconic Connaught tradition that brings together high art and high hospitality with unmistakable London flair.
A Tree as a Portrait of the World
Sourced from Denmark, the magnificent evergreen is transformed into a radiant sculpture inspired by Fischer’s acclaimed 2022 installation People at Gagosian New York. Each sphere adorning the tree contains an AI-generated human face, softly illuminated from within. The effect is mesmerising: a constellation of expressions representing all ages, races, and corners of the globe. The result is a contemporary Christmas tableau—warm, democratic, and quietly moving.

Fischer describes his vision simply: “Christmas is a time to celebrate together, and this year’s design is a collective of characters doing exactly that, having a good time.” The theme—a luminous celebration of togetherness—could not feel more timely.
The Connaught on Art, Community and Celebration
Commenting on this year’s installation, Sandeep Bhalla, Managing Director of The Connaught, notes: “We are honoured and delighted that Urs Fischer has agreed to add his modern and magical touch to our precious Connaught Christmas Tree. We hope that this year’s theme will be enjoyed by our guests, Mayfair neighbours and indeed all of London.”

The Connaught’s festive tree has become one of the most recognisable symbols of the holiday season in London, and a favourite attraction for design lovers, art collectors, and travellers with a well-trained aesthetic eye. It also reflects the hotel’s long-standing relationship with contemporary art. Over its 170-year history, The Connaught has built an exceptional collection—and placed itself at the crossroads of London’s cultural and luxury scenes.
The Connaught Christmas Tree 2025 will illuminate Carlos Place until the first week of January 2026, offering yet another reason to wander through Mayfair’s most picturesque corner as the festive season unfolds.
A Legacy of Artistic Visionaries
