Each time I visit Mani with its imposing architecture and wild nature, I think that this must be the one region in Greece that could seriously compete with the Greek islands. Its atmosphere and history make this area of Peloponnese really unique. Talking about an incredible, all-year, vacation paradise, full of picturesque historic villages made of stone with a raw landscape of steep rocks and azure waters.

Situated at a privileged location near the postcard-perfect Limeni and the historic town of Areopoli, Ariá Estate overlooks the “big blue” of Messinian Bay. Coming from a local family with 1000 years of history, the owner had the vision to create a private resort with an emphasis on the rugged beauty of the Maniot landscape, the traditional architecture of the area but also real luxury and sustainability.

Respecting the architectural tradition of Mani and featuring a sustainable character, architect Mr. Tripodakis used natural materials, local stones and building techniques in dialogue with the unique landscape that surrounds the Estate. Every detail of the property reflects the calming local palette and embraces authentic customized design, creating a feeling of comfort and serenity.

In the estate, there are 16 apartment-style suites, built amphitheatrically which will make you feel at home offering privacy and upscale amenities. Spacious terraces and high beamed ceilings, minimal elegant decoration and cozy touches in soft hues create a friendly ambiance.

Arriving at Ariá Estate Suites & Spa (which takes its name from the local kind of oak tree, Ariá) on a hot calm day in late August, we gasped in front of the unobstructed views of the place. Soon we realized that we would indulge in these thrilling vistas as long as we liked since our suite (no 6) came with a spacious private terrace with comfy sunbeds overlooking the sea and the surrounding mountains.

The more activities you willingly remove from your to-do list while vacationing, the more amazing the hotel you stay at is! This was the case with us staying at Ariá Estate Suites & Spa. Captivating from dawn to dusk, the place was too nice to leave! Appreciating the time in the room or by the pool made us repeatedly cancel our scheduled excursions to the surrounding attractions. The hotel was generously offering to us precious serenity which we wished to make the most of!

We started our day by having breakfast at the restaurant area of the resort, always making sure that our choices included the traditional lalaggia and the homemade pie. The heavenly infinity pool offered painting-like views of the surrounding landscape with the stone houses, the high cypress trees and the calm blue sea. Whenever we managed to escape the mesmerizing view of this panorama, we visited the atmospheric spa for a rejuvenating treatment and relaxed on its patio also gazing at the infinite blue of the Mediterranean.

A spectacular long-lasting sunset right in front of us made us want to soak these moments either in the pool or on our terrace. The estate’s scenic setting was also the ideal background for a dinner made by the hotel’s chef who has created a menu based on local products (most of them produced at the estate’s farm). Lying on our sunbeds, we would conclude our evening in the most relaxing way, gazing at the star-lit sky above us.
