The Lanesborough is famous for its innovative series of seasonal afternoon teas. This year, 2023, it encourages us to indulge in an exquisite escapade into the grandiose world of the Regency era with London’s premier Bridgerton-themed afternoon tea, exclusively hosted at The Lanesborough for the second season. This seasonal offering, the latest in our series of innovative menus, pays homage to a time of great revelry and high style, characterized by elegant soirees, grand dinners, and opulent balls, reimagined with a contemporary twist.
The sumptuous dining room, resplendent with a domed glass roof that bathes the space in natural light, is adorned with Wedgwood china and meticulous bas-relief artwork meticulously cast from 250 different mouldings, which evoke a sense of Regency neo-classical grandeur.
The Bridgerton Afternoon Tea Menu
The afternoon tea menu is an ode to the key families in Bridgerton, comprising a carefully selected array of finger sandwiches, brioche sliders, scones, cream, jam, and five signature sweet treats. Crafted in collaboration with the show makers Netflix and Shondaland, each patisserie creation is a unique work of art, narrating its own story through distinct flavor profiles and exquisite presentation.
This year Bridgerton Afternoon Tea is inspired by Queen Charlotte
The limited-edition menu is conceptualized and crafted by the hotel’s Head Pastry Chef, Salvatore Mungiovino, and his team. It features intricately designed sweet treats inspired by the beloved characters from the show, such as Lady Violet, Lady Danbury, King George, and of course, Queen Charlotte herself.
The menu highlights include the ‘Your Majesty’ sharing cake, the ‘King George Dreams of Venus’ inspired by The King’s love of astronomy, the ‘Lady Violet’s Buzzing Garden’, and the ‘Danbury Delight’, which is a nod to Lady Danbury’s love of hats and jewels.
The Head of Bars, Mickael Perron, has created the essential cocktail that formed part of quotidian social life during the Regency period, “The Queen Charlotte cocktail”. This refreshing cocktail combines Fords Gin, Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur, cranberry, exotic lychee, vanilla, and lime, topped with Champagne for the royal seal of approval. A non-alcoholic option is also available, featuring Noughty Sparkling Rosé.
Overall, the Queen Charlotte Bridgerton Afternoon Tea is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, paying tribute to the Regency era while adding a contemporary twist to the sweet treats and drinks. It’s a must-try for fans of “Bridgerton” and those who appreciate a good afternoon tea experience.
