The Audo in Copenhagen is a hotel with a unique concept
The Audo is a hybrid space in Copenhagen, facilitating and celebrating human interaction,
connection and artistic expression. As a boutique hotel residence, restaurant, café, concept store, material library, work and event space, The Audo is an ever-changing yet always welcoming home for international creative individuals to collaborate, experiment and inspire one another.
Part gallery, part store, The Audo Concept invites guests to experience the house as a whole, enjoying a constantly evolving environment of inspiring art and design. The Audo Residence is the place’s boutique hotel with 10, uniquely designed, suites featuring furniture by Menu and The Audo´s partner brands. At the Residence, guests are treated to a luxurious experience where all items are available for purchase. From the furniture in The Library to the linens in The Residence suites to the accessories, crockery and fine art displayed on the walls — it is possible to purchase any or all of it at The Audo Concept.
The Audo was conceived by Bjarne Hansen, founder and former CEO of MENU—a globally
recognized leader in the design and lifestyle space—with the vision to connect kindred spirits from
all over the world. Speaking about the concept, Hansen says: “Blurring the lines between home life and work, uniting design, business and community in one innovative space that is alive and
under constant renewal, The Audo as a concept is a unique place to experience elements of our built
environment as a whole”.
The Audo is situated in Nordhavn, Copenhagen, a former industrial port that has recently been transformed into a waterfront destination with award-winning architecture, leading furniture showrooms, young creative studios and a growing population of design-savvy residents. The Audo owes its timeless interiors to lead architect Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, founder of Norm Architects, and Peter Eland, partner at Norm Architects. To realize their vision for The Audo, Jonas, Peter and the Norm team completed a full-scale renovation, approaching the project with great respect for the 1918 building in Nordhavn–one of the oldest in an area once dedicated to fishing and shipping. As an homage to its historic character, Norm Architects chose to preserve the building’s neo-baroque façade. Internally, The Audo resembles a collector’s home with items by talented friends and The Audo´s brand partners showcased throughout the concept store, 10 boutique hotel rooms, café and lobby. The art curated for The Audo ranges from paintings to ceramics to sculptures and installations in an ever-evolving display of creativity. The entire house serves as a gallery and all pieces are available for purchase. The Audo currently offers shipping within Denmark and will soon service Europe and International locations.
