The elegant 5-star hotel Excelsior in Thessaloniki is more fashionable than ever!

If you love style, you cannot but adore Excelsior Hotel in Thessaloniki. It was 5 years ago when I first visited it during a press trip, invited by Chanel Beauty (for its pop-up store launching). And it was love at first sight for me and Excelsior. I just couldn’t stop hanging out in its cosy but so chic mezzanine lobby or observing its amazing design and architectural details. Housed in this striking neoclassical building of 1924 and completely renovated in 2009, Excelsior in Thessaloniki is a hotel that honours its past and at the same time knows how to be absolutely modern.

Fast forward to last month, when Excelsior invited a team of journalists, including me, in order to introduce to us its new fashion profile. Yes, the elegant 5-star hotel of Thessaloniki, has decided to elevate even more its style!

So here are 5 reasons why the fashion crowd will love Excelsior Thessaloniki

1. The fashion brunch

One Sunday every month, fashion lovers can enjoy an unforgettable experience where fashion meets the sweet flavors and the typical dishes of a brunch, including cupcakes, and cookies inspired by fashion and decorated with logos and trademark designer items. The brunch will be hosted on the mezzanine floor of the Excelsior, the ideal setting to relax while enjoying champagne and browsing magazines.

2. The exclusive artwork

Talking about an undoubtedly great Instagram opportunity! Some of the public areas of the hotel are now decorated with recognizable illustrations by Spyros Halaris. Based in New York, Spyros Halaris has worked with major brands (Tom Ford, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sephora, Shiseido, Harrods), as well as newspapers and magazines (Vogue, Sunday Times, L’Officiel). Apart from the artworks, Halaris will create a collection of objects and small items for Excelsior that will be available for sale soon.

3. The fashion window

The window of the Excelsior Hotel at Metropoleos street will be devoted to emerging as well as renowned fashion designers, as a means of expression and promotion of their work. The well-known designer Achilleas Taktikos has curated the first piece in collaboration with the Junior Education Association. The inspiration for the first dress-exhibit comes from the very history of Excelsior from 1924, the year of its foundation, until today, with the students of the school using fabrics and materials from the hotel archive in a clever and imaginative way.

4. The Library

The mezzanine of Excelsior features an elegant library full of fashion titles from the largest publishing houses in the world, such as Assouline, Gestalten, Thames & Hudson, Rizzoli, Phaidon. The same space will host from September 2022 various related workshops, while there will also be screenings of documentaries and films inspired by the fashion world.
